||I've been into trains for almost as long as I can remember, having grown up along the old Erie mainline in Middletown, NY. My earliest memories of railroading, however, was the NYO&W, for which my uncle's father was an engineer. I took my first cab ride at age three in an O&W switcher at the Middletown yards; and that pretty much clinched it for me.
I also spent many years commuting into New York City on both the Erie-Lackawanna (later NJ Transit) Port Jervis line, and for a few more years on the Metro-North Hudson Line.
These days I live in southeastern PA where I keep an eye on SEPTA and Amtrak trains, as well as the NS, CSX, & Conrail Freight lines.
