Xingman on national TV
Author: Xingman

Hey Folks,

If you get a chance, you may want to tune into the Speed Channel to watch the NASCAR West race in Roseburg. The race starts at 4:30 p.m. ET 1:30 Pacific. You should easily see me standing on the flagstand throughout the whole race.

Hint: I'm the big guy to the right of the flagman.

Left turn, Left turn, Left turn......"hey, a crash!!"

Sorry Xingman, I gotta go watch the paint dry on the neighbor's house. :-)

Soo Line Hoghead
(still trying to understand why NASCAR is popular)

P.S. This is called "levity" folks, so don't anyone have an M.I. and flop over backward.

Nascar West, is that what they are calling the series these days? It was kind of a neat west-coast thing when it was Winston West, and Grand National West before that. Lots of neat little bullrings they used to race on here in Southern California, including Saugus - adjacent to the SP Soledad Canyon line, El Cajon, and Mesa Marin in Bakersfield (slated to close at the end of this year). Before the Nextel Cup soap opera became what it is today, Nascar's Winston West and Southwest Tour series' were the main opportunities to attend stock car races out here (apart from long trips to Sonoma and Phoenix). Fortunately for me, my interest in Nascar declined right around the time its popularity exploded (at least in California), so I didn't have to pay for too many $100 race-day tickets at Fontana.

What's the size of the Roseburg track, Rick?

Surplus CORP lower quadrant semaphores used to start the race?
I do not think the affecianados will ever accept a checkered blade for the finish. Not the race fans nor the railfans.

Have fun, take extra pairs of ear plugs.

Hey Xingman How did you get such a good seat for the race?

Would that be a diverging approach when the pit lane opens up? I can see the whole track with semiphores around it instead of the flashing lights.

Double check the weight limit on that flagstand!

Dan,

I am the normal flagman for this track. I was providing communication support between our track crews and NASCAR.
