Hello

I posted 7 sets of photos on the Railfan List
of my trip from Pueblo to Canon City with the
Royal Gorge Railroad picking up their new Dome Cars.

Great pictures. Lucky you on the cabride. Now you see how foamers look like on trackside ;-)

The F7s made the trip just to pick up the domes, right?

Does UP own that line still, or is it leased to/owned by Rock n Rail?

Ah ha!!! I was truly wondering who bought the three Great Domes that had been listed for sale in RAILWAY AGE for several months. Great spot for them! They will look great in Rio Grande colors...

Hello pennsy3750

Rock & Rail had a train that they needed to pick up
in Pueblo so the F-units from the Gorge picked up the
R&R power outside of Canon City and brought them in to
Pueblo.
UP still owns and serves the line, Rock & Rail uses the
trackage rights it has on the line.

Hi eatontm
Great Photo of the cars up North.
I am so happy with the results of the trip! I would have loved
to went all the way over the pass, but the mileage from Pueblo
to Canon has not been photographed all that much.

I would have kicked myself for a long time if I would have turned
down the ride!

Doesn't CC&RG--or perhaps Rock & Rail--own the section between Cañon City and Parkdale?
I keep wondering how UP's trackage rights would work if they ever reopen the pass (especially since UP--last I knew--still dispatches the line). I wonder how much they pay UP for dispatching--and whether they could do it themselves if they chose to, or whether they *have* to have UP do it?

I would have beat you with a rubber hose! Excellent report! Cab rides are almost impossible in this day and age!

If you'd had to think about taking the cab ride for more than 1/2 second then we'd all have to kick you! ;)

Of course we all know that you would NEVER turn down a cab ride.

I'm kinda curious though did the crew drive you back to your car in Pueblo?

Anyway, great trip report and photos. I was checking it out and kept wanting to see more it was so great. I felt like I was there. I wish I could have been.

Hello Dave

I always wondered what the line looked liked
so what better way too see it!

I had not planned on riding the train, I wanted
to chase it. A crew member I know asked me if I wanted
to ride along, so I went for it.

One of the gentlemen that rode in the Domes
needed to go back to Pueblo to get some flooring
so he gave me a lift back.
