New BNSF hybrid remotes in Denver
Author: Pinlifter

BNSF 1212 and BNSF 1213 were paired up today in Denver, CO. I don't think they will stay long (we don't get the new toys). One interesting note: BNSF 1212 doesn't have a window

BNSf 1212 sure has a very short cab. Wonder how some of the big boys are going to manuveur in there

Here is the window. At least they were nice enough to pitch in for the automatic parking brake

That is not a cab, but actually just the electrical cabinet.

I guess when the UTU negotiated with the carrier for this technology, they forgot to insist that their members will have a fully enclosed cab with heat, windows, seats, etc. to ride in!!!!!

Its ironic that I was just discussing the "warmth" issue with a switchman. Way to go UTU. Give the jobs away and then forget about the comfort of your own union members. Glad I have my card when it rains and snows. At least UP had the forsight to include a cab in their new units. Denver has melted down thanks to remotes and other factors. Its great to see engineer job bulletins again. Seems the remotes can't keep up with a human in the cab. Gee us lowly people on the ground could have told the bean counters that.

Even worse, they butchered perfectly good GP7s and GP9s to build these monstrosities!

The cab is to accomodate blind dwarfs.

The cabs make me think these are former BN GP10s. What is the lineage of these units?
