Some Donner Foam Today
Author: samreeves

Day 2 of the Donner adventure continues. I was joined by the great Scott Chandler who has taken some time off from the babe photography in Reno. It was chilly above 5000 feet, but downright comfortable below that. The fall colors are quite brilliant this year on the hill.

1. A westbound comes down near Casa Loma in the morning.

2. An eastbound grinds up Casa Loma in the afternoon

3. Amtrak #6 roars through Atla in the afternoon

More to come later on my website.

Baxter. The crossover was just west of Casa Loma Rd.

The crossing in the first photo (about ten cars back) is Rawhide Mine rd. The train is westbound at MP 158.75 or so and is just about to make the corner into American.

The train in the second photo is at American.

The third photo is at the Alta grade crossing looking railraod west at MP 156.28 home of the famous Altafest. The abandoned speeder pad is just out of the picture to the right.

I like 'em, Sam. Especially the second one. Of course, I'm partial toward the gray scale.
