Easy to catch gleam from the sun on those domed ends. I don't know for sure, but I assume these are for Ethanol. Nebraska just opened another ethanol plant, and will also open one more each month for the rest of the year.

ATSFDAVE Date: 07/23/07 16:35 Re: New Tanks (at least clean ones) Author: CShaveRR Haven't seen too many tagged methanol tanks, thankfully (any taggers reading this, please don't take it as a challenge)! Yes, those are/were reasonably new cars; the fact that there were placards on them suggest that they've been loaded at least once.

JMW Date: 07/24/07 11:27 Re: New Tanks (at least clean ones) Author: rbx551985 How many of these cars were there? I'm wondering what the reporting mark RANGE is---TILX 199020 is the closest car in the photo; what is the rest of the number-range? Thanks.

There are 49 cars in the immediate series (TILX 199012-199060) so far--numbers may go higher later. However, the order of cars of which these 49 cars are a part contains no fewer than 1360 cars, many not yet built. Some are in the 198000 series; hard to tell where the others are lurking. Carl |
