Wish the skies were that blue down here. TCS - meaty or shower ? Date: 08/12/07 23:16 Re: Boredom on the Ballast train, Cascade Line Author: alex14ramos Cool photos and cool consist. You mention that there was a Herzog worker prepping the cars for dumping. How many people are on the crew when you guys run one of these trains?

Me liking much. TCS - a caboose? ya don't say Date: 08/13/07 18:15 Re: Boredom on the Ballast train, Cascade Line Author: TCnR A thread from the past talked about how somebody on the MoW team determines the targets and those dump points get GPS locations; and I picked up the idea that the train moves along and ballast gets dumped per those GPS coordinates; big change compared to the tie under the hopper with the crew walking alongside. What I missed was: is today's Herzog guy and the MoW team riding along behind the train in hyrailers or on the back of the train in a caboose, or riding a ballast car, or how do they check out the action as the rock is dumped? Just curious.
Great photos as always. MOW will HI-rail behind the train and can stop to dig out a switch if it accidentally is dumped through.
