One of my good friends at UP gave me some information that might be of interest to those following the Kansas threads the last day or two:

Apparently, there is a summit, a hill at Upland, Kansas. At the top of this hill, in 1948, the boiler blew up on UP9018, one of the three cylinder 4-12-2 steamers. It killed 3 people. This was the last boiler explosion on UP.
