Shrimp boats on UP in the NW
Author: trkinsptr

The UP1841 B40-8 has been hanging around Portland,Or. for a few days. These are rare in our neck of the woods. I asked the engineer how he liked it-unprintable reply!

It probably echos a similar reply I got from a SP engineer in the mid 1990's where I found one of those leading a train at Hallawell, just south of Albany, OR. The LMX B39-8's were also regarded with the same glowing terms of love and affection! ;^P

"Shrimp boats." Hahaha, that's the first time I've ever heard that particular term applied to a locomotive type! 'Tis true, though, that B40-8s have a decidedly diminutive appearance compared with other locos manufactured contemporaneously.
