Two More Have Left the CORP
Author: fredkharrison

Two more units have left the CORP Shop in Eugene, OR, over the past two weeks, reportedly heading for the TPW:

GP38AC RLGN (NKL?) 3874 (Todd Montgomery reported it moved out onto a UPRR track on 12/15/2007 and gone on 12/17/007)

GP38 CORP 3815 (Floyd Gordon caught CORP 3815 eastbound on the UPRR at Ontario, Oregon on December 24, 2007)

Shown here is my last photo of these two units sitting together next to the CORP shop with SD40-3 HLCX 6522 on 12/12/2007.

Engines or employees? ... really, the CORP T&E guys have been going through some tough times lately. Although some have been coming down here to Alabama to work for the AGR, We are glad to have them down here, but know they would like to be home with family. Hope something turns around for these guys, and the whole CORP

Reply: Sadly, both! You know this will bring economic turmoil to the whole region as well if CORP has no other business plan in mind except to shrink.

I believe things would continue to improve over time if this regional
line was able to convert to local ownership and control without losing
any trackage. Businesses which use the CORP could actually invest in
it to safeguard their future and interests, as few on Wall Street seem
to care anything about this line beyond what they might gain in short
term returns.

The CORP employees are here only temporarily. They can return home whenever they choose. Having no control over the situation at the CORP, I was thinking that it beats the alternatives back in Oregon. Sorry for the button pushing.
