Next morning we shot the IAIS shops in CB

UP ran a empty, by the looks of it by a new hire class

After posting an inquiry here, got lucky and pulled off at Newton,IA and the Rocket was switching. Waited three hours, and got skunked as he left town while we were changing the oil.

The running repair shop has some dinner train cars getting ready for paint.

Leaving town, we spotted somebodys collection in the back yard. We investigated for most of the day.

They all work. 47 year signal man wired them for the retired dentist. 2ft gauge uses a 0-4-0 Henschel.

Popcorn carts work, live steam for them too. Pierce Arrow car, '27 vintage. No boxcar spotwelded on its tail.

Glad you caught the Rock Island painted unit, IAIS 513. Hope your vehicle is running better with fresh oil. That reminds me, car maintenance day!

Keep up the fine work - great variety!

I'm thinking the Iowa Northern 2002 is a former GP-20 judging from the fuel tanks and radiator shutters... Nice series of shots and looks like a great trip, too!

Looks almost like a couple of leopards stalking prey in the tall grass in the 814 photo.

SD45X,
Nice shots looks like a good trip!!the IANR # 2002 is a ex SP GP20 not flaming you just correcting you!!! Also did you get confirmation that the passenger cars at the Oelwin shops were there for paint??? Curious to know as that trainset was stored at Iowa Northern's Bryant yard in Waterloo and was supposed to be heading to Missouri for the new dinner train to be ran by the Columbia Terminal at Columbia,MO. Any info you found out please let me know via this post or a PM.
Thanks, Mark Mautner
