http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,2258224 http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,2258777 http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,2259573 UMAX is a new a joint owned container leasing company between UP and CSX. These containers are fresh off the boat from manufacturing in China after unloading in Portland. OR. --- Gave up the Feather River Express chase Friday late morning originally to attempt to find the rumored WB BNSF Officer Special coming off Donner. Turns out, that special had overnighted in Nevada the previous night and would not be coming in to the Bay until Saturday. So happened to remember this train was running into Roseville Friday morning and got lucky seeing it had a fresh crew at Roseville about 25 miles from my North Sacramento location. Didn't have to wait long once I made Roseville, it was already on the move leaving the West end of the yard. I chased this Train from Roseville to Lodi - crew was pretty happy to show off their matched unit stack train with lots of smiles and horn toots. Something very cool about chasing an all matched doublestack set of brand new shiny glossy dark blue 53' containers all matched at the exact same height. --- Train was held at Saco (North of Bakersfield) for a 5:30a morning crew call... meaning morning light photo opp over Tehachapi! There was rumor UP would be using the train for P.R. photo purposes - what better than to photograph it against the golden hills of Tehachapi?!? Good luck to anyone up on the hill tomorrow! --- IPDCIR 18 I-stndrd Intermodal UP 7369 UP 7896 + 97 CARS CARRYING ALL MATCHED DOUBLE STACK 53' "UMAX" CONTAINERS - 194 of them! The front has white corners. Every box is riding backwards. gmojim Date: 08/21/10 17:57 Re: Unit UMAX Container Train IPDCIR-18 (Tehachapi) Author: northislands Here's my shots from my usual boring Pepper Ave,West Colton spot (I have to watch my gas consumption these days!) And also a shot of some being deilvered to the Port of Los Angeles a few Saturdays ago.
