Date: 04/21/03 19:03 Re: SP switcher in UP Intermodal service Author: TopcoatSmith An ex-SP MP-15AC, looks like it's being transferred as in the previous post about two 90MACs and a switcher.
TCS - hot day. Date: 04/21/03 20:00 Re: SP switcher in UP Intermodal service Author: lonlasher I have seen UP run switcher power back and forth between Portland, Ore., and Seattle, Wash. on local stack trains like the SEBA/BASE. Sometimes those trains will even stop in Longview and pickup power.
Date: 04/21/03 20:05 Re: SP switcher in UP Intermodal service Author: supt UP special instructions require units without self aligning couplers must be placed in the middle of locomotive consist. Most switchers do not have self aligning couplers. More than likely just a transfer of power.
Date: 04/22/03 04:30 self aligning couplers? Author: MagmaJctAz What are they? How do they work?

What would be considered the middle?? -JuNiOr Date: 04/22/03 11:49 Re: SP switcher in UP Intermodal service Author: CR6444 Any switcher can be in any hotshot stack/trailer trains. Few years ago on Conrail, along the Boston Line, CR had 5 SW1500's running Syracuse-Boston TV8W (Worcester stacks)so it is a rare sight indeed pulling a good sized stack train alongside Albany, NY!!!
