Western Railroad Discussion > Oregon Trunk TrafficDate: 09/16/11 10:43 Oregon Trunk Traffic Author: fredkharrison At the end of the month I'll be in the Bend area and would like to know what the rail traffic is like currently on the Oregon Trunk. Also, if any particular schedule is followed, what times can I expect trains through town? Thanks for your help!

You can hear the disparcher talk with trains and section about what will be going on and then watch something entirely different unfold in front of you.
So bring lots of patience and lower your expectations. Posted from Android Date: 09/16/11 15:02 Re: Oregon Trunk Traffic Author: BrooklynHauler Just spent two full days last week camped out on the OT. Both calendar days had 6 trains each. 7 were in daylight, 5 at night.

Was at Maupin for a short time on two days last week and didn't have much more than a rail train and a hy-rail truck, both around 15:00 hrs. The rail train had a meet further down river though.

Usually a north bound bare table every other day. A empty north bound auto rack once a week or so. Still seeing a unit train of grain cars southbound every ten days or so. The empties return as two seperate trains. Power has been kinda boring for the most part. Not a lot of foreign locos the last couple of months. They had a couple green BN engines this summer doing the local but they disappeared in the last two weeks. Replacements were pumpkins. The local runs during the daylight hours. Anywhere from 9 am till dusk. If a train is being held for a crew it is usually parked just south of portland street crossing. Currently there is dozen or so pieces mow equipment parked on a siding north of revere avenue. Believe they are headed north. Posted from BlackBerry |
