WGRF = Worlds Greatest Rail Fans
Author: KB5WK

Some who knew didn't know the group still exist. Some didn't know such a group ever did exist. I'm not a member of this group, but I have two good rail fan buddy's that are. The WGRF had there yearly convention in Ft Worth TX hosted by Roger Bee last weekend 10/13/11 thru 10/16/11.

Ken Fitzgerald assisted Roger Bee and arranged the Ft Worth & Western photo session on Saturday morning 10/15. Ken had the FWWR locomotives spotted that morning. Great cooperation with FWWR, and both UP and BNSF on the other events.

UP Family days was happening that weekend at Davidson yard. UP had UP1989, UP1982, UP1988, UP2010 for the event. WGRF got to visit the Family days and get some UP gen-sets photos and heritage photos. BNSF Alliance yard also had Gensets spotted for the WGRF. The weather was absolute perfect with blues skies and almost zero clouds. Could not of requested better weather.

BNSF was also running there Make A Wish train ride for the kids that Saturday. I got to ride and assist in photography on that train ride. Hats off to the BNSF on that one. Thank you Ken Fitzgerald for letting me borrow your high tech flash system. I met up with Ken at FWWR Hodge yard early Saturday morning, and got some prize souvenir photos of the FWWR and WRGF'ers. Lets see. Jim Satterwhite, Ron Thur, Tom Sink, Sid Vaught, Craig Williams, Jimmy De Nike are a few names present at this years WGRF. I didn't have time to meet all of them. I had a train to catch that left the Ft Worth Stock yard at 1 pm.

I know another American company which operates on rails, and they employ a bunch of clowns -- on two trains -- and THOSE clowns are professional clowns...LOL! Great shots, BTW -- a slice of life we all like to see.

Thanks for posting. My slides of the FWWR haven't made their way back to me yet. We sure were a motley crew weren't we!
