Ok, I'm not even going to believe that I'm a photographer. But I came across this series of photographs that were taken on September 24, 1996, up at Tehachapi. I'm not sure where they were taken. I'm thinking right near the crossing that goes into the ranch.

There is nothing special about these other than it's one of the oil trains from back then, with SP locomotives.

I found this series of four photographs too. This was a BNSF train with ATSF power, shortly after the ATSF/BN merger. This series is four photos, but the only thing special about these is the rear unit of the consist.

Excellent! 1996 was the year I graduated High School. Back then a couple of friends and I would scrape up enough money for food and gas and head up to Tehachapi to camp. Two years later I hired out with BNSF and it will probablly never be the same.

I remember camping out at the Loop and waiting for the oil cans to come up the hill . You could hear them coming for miles. Darn

First sequence is of the empty oil cans leaving Marcel (going downhill).

Remaining sequences are of uphill trains going around the loop.

Awesome train! I believe one month later and the cans were finished over the Pass.

Also of note, the entire power for the train is M-K rebuild. This is definitely the assignment that will trash any unit!
