844 and More !
Author: qman

The sun angle was not too favorable when we met 844 at Grande, NM. This changed for the better, however, after the short stop at Des Moines and the the time it took 'er to get into Oak Canyon. SD45X requested a little smoke as she left the curve and the crew performed BEAUTIFULLY !!!

A shot to record her passing through Barela, CO.

WELL DONE, 844 engine Crew !!!!!

An SLRG engine waiting for 844 AND some MT coal cars in the former D&RGW Yd. at Walsenburg, CO.

BNSF 6060, delivering the MT's., runs long hood forward as it crosses Russel St. in Walsenburg.

SLRG 116 has the MT's in tow and heads west.

116 passes the old Walsenburg power plant on its trip west.

The sun sets and the sky darkens as 116 continues west.

SLRG 18 shows up as the sun sets behind 'er.

Nice images from Alps! Yes heard the radio about the smoke :) Going to have to make the hike in there and spend a day working that curve and the various angles! Particularly like the 1st shot, good job.

Was very surprised on the number of people chasing on the Twin Peaks, in 15 or more trips Ive never seen a railfan on the line. Expected some chasers but no where near the number that made the trip.

Nice shot with the power plant, and great light on the next shot... wish I could have stayed late to see the show but didnt want to make the drive back to Castle Rock in the dark.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the show, who knows if it will repeat anytime soon (or at all).

Thanks for posting.

Qman, once again, great shots. Even tho it's diesels, shot 8 with the SLRG units is real nice in my eye and opinion. The steam shots of the 844 leave nothing as to the fact that the 844 is a beautiful working Steam Locomotive. Thanks for taking the time to get out and catch her working. Gonna try and get out Wed am when it leaves (as we were talking about). Ben
