BNSF ES44AC Question

Hi all.

When in dynamic braking, what is the power setting of the unit. Some locomotives revert to idle, whilst others run in Notch 4 or 8 when dynamic braking is in use.

Can anyone shed any light on the this and in particular the BNSF ES44AC's?

I believe they stay in idle.

I think if you get to a low enough speed and stay in heavy dynamics (4-8), they will rev up to Run 4, but it has been quite awhile since I've had an ES44AC leading.

If you get to the point where the heat rejection ie fan load is high enough
the unit will increase throttle setting ie Run 4.
