The nightly northbound Z (LCBR) is seen here slow rolling to a quick crew change at the depot ahead. The light clouds are all that remain of the previous three days and nights of rain.

Did you have that on a tripod, or just set it on the ground? And how long was the exposure? The angle is perfect. One of the things I have trouble with when shooting at night, is not being able to see what I'm doing! Date: 11/23/12 22:23 Re: SP Signals at Night Author: RyanWilkerson I didn't bring my tripod so I set the camera on the ground. It was so dark that live view wasn't even useful. I put it on wide (17mm) and focused, then switched off the autofocus (MF) on the lens and gently set it down and propped the lens up. I did end up needing to rotate the photo a bit (~5 degrees?).
The exposure was 10 seconds at f/4.0. If I had more time, I would have gone longer and gone to f/11 to get better sharpness in the background.
