Western Railroad Discussion > Interesting SLRG action 12/01/2012Date: 12/01/12 08:55 Interesting SLRG action 12/01/2012 Author: degilchr The usually nocturnal interchange with UP at Walsenburg was leaving Walsenburg around 07:45 with a long and interesting train including a couple of old passenger cars.
All pictures taken 5 miles West of Walsenburg. If I am correct this is a two track line with the west track UP and BNSF the east. BNSF does or did dispatch both lines. UP's traffic must be less than 4 trains per day consisting of the M-F Pueblo- Walsenberg turn, an occasional northbound empty coal and a couple of times a week Dalhart to Pueblo manifest?
Now that BNSF runs primarily northbound directionally on this segment does BNSF still dispatch both tracks or are each now operated independently? Has UP ever considered taking up their track in exchange for trackage rights on the BNSF? Just wondering. Whether they are assigned to SLRG trains, or are rebuilt for Pullman service - they will certainly have a brighter future at their new home!
Thanks for sharing the photos and the report. |
