One well known NorCal Railfan has reported on his Facebook thread that the west switch at Floka was taken out. Closer to MP 479. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/06/13 13:54 by Yarddogh. Date: 01/06/13 19:38 Re: Derailment at Floka NV Author: Realist ppcx032 Wrote:

There already is (and has been for years) a big hook at Portola. Date: 01/13/13 16:53 Re: Derailment at Floka NV Author: ExSPCondr If the West switch of a siding was "taken out" by a Westbound train, it was because a car derailed after passing the East switch of the siding, which would have been the facing point switch, and trailed into the West switch with wheels on the ground and tore up the switch.
