Derailment at Mclaster Oklahoma, 6 to 8 hour delay for most trains. 8 to 9 cars on the ground.Nothing turned over. Should be re-open by 8 to 10 a.m.

Are there situations where a switch may not be fully closed, yet can go undetected ?

One well known NorCal Railfan has reported on his Facebook thread that the
west switch at Floka was taken out. Closer to MP 479.

Why? There already is (and has been for years) a big hook at Portola.

If the West switch of a siding was "taken out" by a Westbound train, it was because a car derailed after passing the East switch of the siding, which would have been the facing point switch, and trailed into the West switch with wheels on the ground and tore up the switch.
