Western Railroad Discussion > Derailment at MojaveDate: 07/22/13 19:15 Derailment at Mojave Author: cajon Sound like there is a derailment around Mojave. A BNSF train is holding at MP381 and might have to go back to Sandborn.
Dennis Date: 07/22/13 20:10 Re: Derailment at Mojave Author: usmc1401 Per 20:00 news on KFI radio flooding east of Mojave. US395 and Cal 58 intersection. Lots of rain quarter size hail. The thunderheads top out at 20,000 ft and can be seen from Redondo Beach. 60 70 miles away.
Date: 07/22/13 21:52 Re: Derailment at Mojave Author: cajon The derailment must be down below Rowen. Trains are tied down at Rowen, Cable, and Tehachapi all north trains.
On the BNSF train are tied down at Sanborn, Bissell, Edwards, and Silt. The BNSF train at Mojave back up all the way to Bissell as there is grain train in the siding. The train that back up to Bissell was the 5383 a D/S train. UP south Z train tied down at Denis do to high wind and flooding. Dennis Date: 07/22/13 22:15 Re: Derailment at Mojave Author: MojaveBill Kramer Jct., where 395 and 58 intersect, is east of Boron, which is 31 miles east of Mojave...Satellite shows lots of action out there. No rain and not much breeze in Mojave this evening.

Date: 07/22/13 23:11 Re: Derailment at Mojave Author: cajon UP is reporting a wash out from MP 430.75 to 432.0. I am thinking it is the ballast that is wash out as they put a 10 MPH on that track and will be on for more 12 hour.

Dennis Date: 07/22/13 23:57 Re: Derailment at Mojave Author: cajon Track should open up sometime around 3 AM.

One of the news websites had a video of a flash flood, in a similar situation in a desert where it may be raining further up the drainage. Here's the guys website for those who are into such things: http://www.rankinstudio.com/flashfloods Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/23/13 00:07 by TCnR. The derailment was at Bena and the MP is 328. Wash out was at MP 430.75 to 432.0 with a 10 MPH slow order. 2 different thing going on and maybe more last night. Dennis Date: 07/23/13 09:41 Re: Derailment at Mojave Author: TCnR Awesome, thanks.
Date: 07/23/13 20:57 Re: Derailment at Mojave Author: ble692 A BNSF train put some power on the ground at the moveable point frog switch at CP SP328 Bena. Once they got that cleaned up, the #1 track was still out of service between Sandcut and Bena.
Date: 07/23/13 22:44 Re: Derailment at Mojave Author: cajon The MBARSTO was told to handline the switch at Bena. This is a "High-speed" turnout which requires the crew member to line 3 parts of the switch. Well they forgot and only lined one part of the switch causing 1 and a half units to go on the ground. Both crew members are pulled currently.
