I believe this is the third time they have applied for a Tiger Grant to reopen the Nevada Northern to the mainline. If they get their money the line will once again be moving freight across the 60 pound rail. I wish them the best as this would be a wonderful gift for Northern Nevada. A Walmart distribution center is kind of reaching, but moving mining concentrate would be feasible. Last year's grant asked for new ties, road crossings, and included ballast from the mine to support the roadbed.

I would hope that the grant will provide enough so the 60lb. rail could be upgraded
so they can haul 286K at least at a minimum 20-25mph.

What traffic and how much does Nevada Northern plan on moving? Is there any on line customers left north of Ely?

Where will this connect to the mainline? And which mainline? Ely is basically equidistant from the LA&SL and the First Transcon.

The Nevada Northern rails are still in place from Ely north to the UP (ex. WP) Shafter Sub. at Shafter, Nevada.
