WAMX in Elgin, TX
Author: texchief1

Watco Industries Austin Western RR Engine WAMX5007 West heads back to Austin with from Elgin with two hoppers of rendering plant meal from Griffin Industries. Cars in background were brought to Elgin and will be loaded with the same product. Griffin transloads the meal from their rendering plant located between Bastrop and Elgin. The depot in the picture is a museum and a nice one at that. The train is crossing the UP Waco Sub. The picture was taken about 5:15 pm today.

Great shot!

I've lucked into catching a couple of UPs on the ex-Katy there, but never (at least as of yet) been able to get anything on the ex-SP, now-Austin Western.

Wouldn't a location between Bastrop and Elgin be located on the UP (ex-MKT)?

Nice shot and catch! I thought that this operation was mostly nocturnal.
