I also noticed that the host railroad supply three engines for the northbound trip to Oakland which also makes sense due to the grades north of Los Angeles. Anyway thanks for covering the train both south and north of San Diego.

Yeap. On occasion, they run the coaches in REVERSE ORDER which they arrived in (such as in San Diego) so they can take some of the mileage off the wheels.
