Western Railroad Discussion > back to the neighborhood . .Date: 08/19/14 09:25 back to the neighborhood . . Author: 3rdswitch . . after waking up in KC with cruddy skies, slept in, checked out late, headed to KCS Knoche yard seeing no activity, ate a burger at Rock Creek Jct seeing nothing but a couple of BNSF's on the new high line decided to head west in the direction of home stopping for awhile in the Holliday area catching a westbound (top) with a nice set of power and an eastbound one unit wonder auto rack train coming off the Topeka Sub (middle) then headed for the UP at Lawrence hoping for a westbound in the nice afternoon sun but seeing nothing but eastbounds. A UP local that was in the clear there came out on the main but even he backed out of town headed east so started back west deciding somewhere along the way to just keep on going and ended up driving all the way home to Palmer Lake, CO arriving at 11 p.m. . . . .
