KCS 4779 at La Crosse, WI leading U HAGOKC5 18G (Hager, WI to Oklahoma City) ready to depart off the "Ice House" track and head east at 0450 this morning with tie gang train. Not to shabby of a shot considering hand held at asa 1600, f4.5, 1/8 sec.

Not shabby at all for 1/8 second handheld, IN THE COLD. Shivering could have taken control. Don't know what the temp was or how long you were out in it, etc...

It was 14 degrees with a windchill of 3. Guess you could say, "In the Ice House". Shot from my vehicle, which helped stabilize the camera.

A wonderful photo, which conveys both the cold and the stillness of the night.

I assume your lens had image stabilizer on and the picture had some noise which you eliminated along with doing some color correction. The result is a really nice piece of work. Yes, it deserved IOTD.

Shot with a Canon 5D mkIII. 24-105L IS. Minimal processing with Lightroom 5. Slight adjustment on white balance and a little smoothing of grain. The 5D is quite phenomenal.
