Western Railroad Discussion > Hopper in UP wreckDate: 11/26/14 10:20 Hopper in UP wreck Author: pmack There is a 4 bay hopper in the third photo in the thread about the Feather River wreck:
http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,3586284 Here is a similar car if not the same, I think the number is 221411 it was upside down and hard to read: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1764012 What is the history of the car? Manufacturer? 4 bay cars like that don't seem too common, most are 3 bay. Date: 11/26/14 10:33 Re: Hopper in UP wreck Author: rbx551985 Could that be a former Western Pacific car? There's a U.P. herald on it....

Date: 11/27/14 01:32 Re: Hopper in UP wreck Author: Albrae The car in question is a 4-bay 5250 cu ft hopper from UP class CH-125-2 or -3 built by Pullman-Standard in 1968 through 1970. Many were rebuilt/refurbished by UP in the 1990s and placed into the 221400-222549 group (not continuous). Western Pacific never obtained 4-bay ribbed side covered hoppers with that capacity.
