last two of the year from the neighborhood . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

. . the neighborhood being the joint UP BNSF Denver Pueblo Joint Line main. After days of very little sunshine, a couple days of lite snow and a week of single and minus temps and a couple northbounds showing on the atcs headed out for a couple of run of the mill BNSF coal empties passing through Palmer Lake to end this excellent year of railfanning. The outline of the famous (at least around here) Palmer Lake star can be seen on Sundance Mnt in the distance. The Palmer Lake star was started in 1935 and is illuminated from early Dec through New Years day Fourth of July, Memorial Day as well as a few other occasions. It is maintained by the Palmer Lake volunteer fire dept and may be the largest lighted star in the United States. Happy New Year all!

Happy New Year Joe and definitely second the sentiment about the departure of the clouds,
