A couple of Atchison Kansas questions
Author: superfleet

Regarding one of the namesakes of the ATSF, what year was the flood in Atchison that damaged the ATSF/Union Station and caused it to be demolished? Also, to the west of where the depot once stood is a large yard, was that the ATSF yard, and, does the BNSF still own it today? The remnants of the ATSF line to Topeka that terminates now to the west of town, does the BNSF still own that today? Lastly, the bridge to the east that still goes across the river, I understand the BNSF still owns that former ATSF structure, are locomotives wye'd there frequently, and if so, they must go out onto the bridge to do so? When we were there last fall it looks like BNSF, UP and KCS are frequent visitors, I understand that UP and BNSF have trackage there, does the KCS have trackage rights?

Thanks,

Dan in Wichita, on the ATSF Ark City Subdivision
