Northeast Oklahoma things
Author: TTownTrains

Out and about the last few days with no particular goals in mind, except one, and these are some of the results.

1.  Eastbound BNSF empty 2-bay hoppers, about half of which were CSXT, leave downtown Tulsa, OK in the rearview mirrors of a pair of ES44s.

2.  An eastbound stack train passes Stillwater Milling in Claremore, OK with an ex-Soo/ex-Indiana SD60 as trailing unit.

3.  After a 20 minute rain shower in Claremore, a northbound SATX coal empty rolls by MP 610 on the Wagoner sub with the usual AC4400CWs as power and DPU.

All shots taken 7-30-2015.  Page 1 of 4...stay tuned.

4.  Westbound BNSF local 466 approaches the beginning of double track into Tulsa at (appropriately) East Tulsa Thursday evening with an SD60M / SD40-2 / SD60M / SD60M set of power.

5.  A westbound BNSF mixed freight is parked in the siding at White Oak, OK, just west of Vinita around noon on 8-1.

6.  The main goal for today was a southbound UP loaded crude oil train with CREX 1340 / CSXT 563 / CSXT 541 as power.  They're slogging along behind a coal train that had a horn failure, so the coal train is having to flag EVERY crossing.  Needless to say, a parade is queueing up behind them.  The crude oil train is about 10 miles north of Vinita on the Cherokee sub.

7.  The crude oil train was easy to pace, even on gravel section lines in less than ideal condition due to recent Oklahoma rain.  Another shot about 6 miles outside of Vinita.

8.  One last grab at Big Cabin, OK, before abandoning the chase in pursuit of a late lunch/early dinner at the Dutch Pantry in Chouteau, OK (highly recommended, by the way).

9 and 10.  Returning to Tulsa this afternoon via the not-so-direct route, I catch an eastbound BNSF autorack train leaving Claremore and get ahead of it at what used to be PSO Jct before the junction was removed.  No orange units in sight, thank you.

11.  The autorack train had met a westbound unit corn syrup train at Claremore, so I reversed course and caught up with it a couple miles west of Claremore.  Some oranges, but some not.

Thanks for looking.

Ditto on the variety. I sure am getting the itch to come visit Okie country again. I'm thinking the scenery on that Avard Sub needs a thorough railfan investigation blitzkrieg one of these weekends...
