A Little Spring Cleaning P2
Author: CP_M260

A few days ago, I posted a thread about 'spring cleaning' - posting a group of the misc. train photos I have accumulated on my computer over the last few months. This is part two, which consists of images from only the month of May.

You can view part one here; http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4032126

* 18 images below *

Enjoy!

16. A Northbound BNSF Boeing Special, operating as a J WICINB to Interbay, WA splits the endagered CB&Q-era searchlight signals at W. Sadler - Iatan, MO - 05/06
17. Moving North, the train hits the crossover a E. Nodaway, North of St. Joseph, MO - 05/06
18. Moving farther North, the plane train is about to pass under the US 159 overpass at Forest City, MO - just shy of the plant at E. Napier, where the train will join the Napier Subdivision, to Pacific Jct, IA and the 'long way' to Lincoln - 05/06

Beginning with photo 6, there will be a few 'duplicate' photos of trains already shared by Mr. SP8595 from his visit back to Missouri. His excellent series of photos can be viewed here:  http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4028345http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4029152

4. Following about 10 minutes behind the Boeing train, an empty Bakken oil train rolls North, with the bustling metropolis of Forest City in view behind the train - 05/06
5. A short drive East yeilds this view of the oil train, crossing the Missouri River Bridge at Rulo, NE - 05/06
6. Just after sunrise, a BNSF Argentine - KCS Knoche transfer eases up to the Olive Street grade crossing, as the conductor prepares to climb down from the lead unit and hand line a pair of crossovers - Kansas City, MO -05/07

8. A former Santa Fe GP50 leads the BNSF's Spring Hill Local through BN XING on the Ft. Scott Subdivision - 05/07

10. A pair of NS SD60Es have NS train 239 well in hand as they approach the MO HWY 10 overpass at Hardin, MO with autos bound for UP's Armourdale Yard in Kansas City, KS - 05/07
11. An interesting set of power brings UP train YKS75 - a UP Neff - UP 18th Street transfer past CP K001 Hickory Street at State Line. For reference, the train is in Kansas City, MO, but I'm standing on the James Street overpass in Kansas City, KS - 05/10
12. In a heavy burst of rain, a pair of former ATSF SD40-2s bring train T KCS1 13R South, through the Old Union Depot Interlocker in Kansas City, MO - 05/13

13. About 25 minutes after the photo of the KCS transfer above, the skies opened up, and produced some neat storm light, as seen here with this SB BNSF coal train at CP 30th Street in Kansas City, KS - 05/13
14. Another instance where Friday the 13th gave me some good luck can be seen here, as UP train YKS75 rolls towards 18th Street at State Line, right at the sun decided to pop out once again - Kansas City, KS - 05/13
15. An interesting set of transfer power - SD60M, SW1500, GP39M - sits idle at BNSF's Murray Yard in North Kansas City, MO as a SB KCS trackage rights train approaches to return to home rails at Knoche Yard - 05/13

16. Thanks to a timely tip from Mr. SP8595, I was able to intercept my favorite of UP's heritage units - UP 1995 - on the point of train MCVKCX 21 at Bucyrus, KS just after sunrise yesterday - 05/21
17. ... and after some fancy driving, I was also able to catch the SB run of the KCS business train, operating as train BKCSH 21, returning to Shreveport, seen here at Cleveland, MO - 05/21
18. I was able to get one last photo of the KCS train just North of Drexel, MO at MP 48. After Drexel, I had to give up the chase - my Honda Civic is no match for 3 F-units!

This is the last of my 'spring cleaning'. I hope you enjoyed this series of photos half as much as I did taking them. I know it was alot more fun than dusting and vacuuming! ;)

Thanks for looking,
-Dalton

These are all great shots.  Thanks for posting.

Before I retired last July, I worked a relief DS job for the last 5 years and dispatched the Seattle East Desk (Everett - Spokane) on Sundays 1st shift.  We had cameras at the the Cascade Tunnel and this train always amazed me as I watched those airplane fuselages disappear in the tunnel WB and pop out on the west side.  It's ironic that these airplane spend 8 miles underground before they ever fly.

The KCS F-units pictures are spectacular.  I shot them twice on the Santa trains in east Texas.

A very nice set of photos, Dalton, thanks for posting.

You are a brave man to stand on the overhead at Hardin.  IIRC,
traffice really flies by there and in a fairly moderate amount!
Good job!
