Western Railroad Discussion > Around KC

Sometimes when you live in a big city like KC you start to take some of the railroading for granted. I guess its like when you don't see the forrest for the trees. A fellow trainorders member from the out of town came in for meetings and we crusied the KC terminal's 5th street yard and checked out some industries in town before dark.

​The first shot is the terminal Switchers resting after a day's work.
​The second shot is the local scrap industry and the switcher at rest. Notice the window air conditioning unit.

That SW1 unit in the red, white and blue looks great considering she is over 70 years old.   Its a former Rock Island unit of that same number, 530.  They sure are taking good care of her.
