Some Engines in the Yards at Eddyville, Iowa
Author: Agent

Back on Tuesday, I took a chance to swing by Eddyville, Iowa to see what I see what there was to see.  The first stop was the Cargill yard which is switched by Railserve, Inc.  I don't know all the models of the engines I saw were, so feel free to say if you know.

1-3) RSSX 2255 moving some cars in the Cargill yard.  Looks like one of Railserve's LEAF Gen-sets, but I don't know its model designation would be.

4-5) RSSX 2056 was the only other unit moving cars around.  Looks like another genset to me.

6) A look at most of the other engines that were in the yard.

8) GP9 RSSX 1700

9) GP10 RSSX (ex-IC) 8358

10) RSSX 577 had its headlight on, but it didn't move while I was there.  I don't know what type of engine this is.

11-12) In case you though there were too many stacks in photo 9, the GP7 RSSX 754 was behind the 8358.  I couldn't get a good angle on it though.  8358, 4155, and 754 were the units switching cars around the last time I was here.

Do a history search here but one poster had a good story of using 2 of those old geeps to shove a big string of tanks up the hill south of the plant, almost burned up their traction motors too.

13-14) The other stop I made was at the small yard, if you can call it that, along the Cargill Spur that connects with the BNSF mainline just south of Eddyville.  The locomotives that were idling away here were probably waiting to be used on the local later that evening.

Engines:
BNSF 2369 GP38-2
BNSF 2696 GP39-3
BNSF 515 B40-8W

That was me, guilty as charged.  Sorry for the late reply, haven't had an active account here since 2015
