Western Railroad Discussion > Trains from the Frozen TundraDate: 01/08/17 12:16 Trains from the Frozen Tundra Author: rrartist I know, I know it's been said here before, it's cold, it's Winter what does one expect? At least the sun shines when it's -8 right? BNSF 8515 leads the Q STPCHC into Brice Prairie Saturday morning while the BNSF 7217 leads the U BRMMAD through the south-side of La Crosse a short while later. On to Sunday, yeppers still -8 has CP 470, BNSF 8247 swings into Dakota MN.
Date: 01/08/17 12:22 Re: Trains from the Frozen Tundra Author: rrartist Moving north to Winona (MN) I found CP 484 cruising past the Amtrak Depot behind the BNSF 8121, look a little like a Steamer (excuse the pun) with the steam pouring into the sky from a unknown facility in the distance. Knowing that CP H20 was in the area I moved even further north to Minneiska MN where I found the CP 5041 and H20. Lastly, before the clouds took the sun away, I caught the CP 5041 and H20 at Minnesota City. I'm hoping these CP SD30C ECOs stay on this train for awhile!

Steve B. Date: 01/08/17 14:59 Re: Trains from the Frozen Tundra Author: Ritzville Excellent shots all! I'm definately in the frozen tundra with snow and Ice falling today, very messy!
Larry Date: 01/08/17 16:11 Re: Trains from the Frozen Tundra Author: hawkinsun Nice Pics. How do you guys rate getting those pretty Red CPs ? All the CPs we get here in Idaho, are almost boxcar brown, except red stripes where the Snoos Drool runs down from the cab windows. I guess they probably get more tunnel action out here.
We had minus 16 the other night and my neighbors had 23 below without the wind chill. It's a nearly tropical 26 plus and snow blowing sideways right now. C. Lance/199 Date: 01/08/17 17:15 Re: Trains from the Frozen Tundra Author: 3rdswitch Outstanding bunch! What a lashup in number three! You are going to get me looking at airfares again!
