Western Railroad Discussion > Boeing loads in Mukilteo WADate: 02/12/17 22:27 Boeing loads in Mukilteo WA Author: Captain92 Where do these container barges come from.
1. Port of Everett barge terminal. 2. One of the wide load containers. 3. Starting up the hill to Paine Field, Boeing. This must be a semi-regular occurance up there, I'm surprised there isn't anyone walking along side that box.
Mr. MRL Date: 02/13/17 05:49 Re: Boeing loads in Mukilteo WA Author: Captain92 All of the trackage is made to handle containers that wide. There are signs warning people. Those tall containers are one piece also. I don't know where they come from. Another plant around Puget Sound? And the grade on that hill. Is it the steepest in WA state?

http://www.portofeverett.com/seaport/the-port-aerospace and: http://www.portofeverett.com/Home/Components/News/News/287/304?arch=1 These containers are coming from Japan by ship, then offloaded onto the barges near Everett then transported to the Mount Baker Terminal dock to be loaded onto the railcars, all in an effort to reduce BNSF traffic delays due to the high-wide loads. Date: 02/13/17 12:09 Re: Boeing loads in Mukilteo WA Author: Lackawanna484 One of the fictions about "US-made" products is that aircraft sub-assemblies and components were all made in the USA. That's rarely the case, and a lot of deals require Boeing and Airbus/US must use parts from the country buying the planes or copters.

First time I've ever seen the wide and tall containers, most be large aircraft parts!! Mike Date: 02/13/17 18:14 Re: Boeing loads in Mukilteo WA Author: PHall The assemblies for the 787 that are made in Japan are flown to the Everett plant by the Boeing 747-400LCF. (The 747 with Thyroid condition.)
Date: 02/13/17 22:35 Re: Boeing loads in Mukilteo WA Author: Lairport The containers are for 767, 777 parts from Japan.
