Oregon Electric BCER 961
Author: railscenes

Antique Powerland Museum has a wide variety of rail and non-rail equipment. One of their latest acquisitions is this Oregon Electric steeple cab that was just returned to it's home territory at Brooks, Oregon between I-5 and the current operator of the OE District of the Portland & Western mainline between Portland and Salem, OR. I'm new to the area so will let others go into the details. I took these snap shots March 1, 2017. The depot has the station name for a station close to Brooks called Hopmere. Would guess it is the Hops they grow in this part of the Willamette Valley.

That's great news. Wonder if Mr Samuels wouldn't mind stringing cantenary along his line and they could put this baby to work!  ;^D

961 was built by Alco-General Electric in June 1912, #51069, 3808, as OERy # 21.  It became BECR 961 in July 1946.

It is always good to see a unit come back home.  This is good news indeed.

Always glad to see a electric motor get saved from the scrapper. I second on Mr. Samuels putting up wire to let her work again...

Failed to mention in the info that the Trolley group at Antique Powerland Museum in Brooks, OR is called the Oregon Electric Historical Society. The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the NRHS is giving financial support but additional funds will be needed to continue restoration and eventual operation. The OEHS has their museum and trolley operation out of the Hopmere depot.
Thank you, Steve Rippeteau

She was used quite often here in Edmonton before being stored at Fort Edmonton Park. She was a work horse and was even used to build our LRT system in the late 70's. As neat as it would have been to keep it here for our Streetcar association, its nice to see her make it back to her original place of operation.
