However it would help if you could fill in some details. Like Sargent Joe Friday said just the facts or 4W's, as in Who, What, When and Where.

Very disappointing for a variety of reasons. I imagine even if the perp is found, UP wouldn't bother reinstalling it at this point. Sometime between Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning, the wig-wag on Denker Ave., in Gardena, Ca., on the U.P.'s Crenshaw lumber Co. spur (ex P.E. Moneta line), went missing. That's all I know. Date: 09/21/17 21:34 Re: Stolen Wig-Wag Author: TomPlatten I expect the same thing will happen up North in Lindsay, CA. Some of those have not operated in years!

That's all I know. OK, fair enough, but "missing" and "stolen" are two different things. what it sounds like is that it is "missing," which could mean anything from removed by the RR, to stolen in fact. But you were reporting facts as you yourself admitted, which is not the same thing as speculation. Perhaps you could change the title from "stolen" to "missing." Edited 1 time(s). Well, I talked to the signal maintianer and he has no idea what happened to it and my bulletins made no mention of any crossing warning protection missing or malfunctioning but I supposed maybe it was just "borrowed", long term. Perhaps by aliens. Date: 09/22/17 05:47 Re: Stolen Wig-Wag Author: goneon66 norm1153 Wrote:

Perhaps you > could change the title from "stolen" to "missing." why would the r.r. remove a crossing protection device and not replace it with ANOTHER protection device??? 66 Date: 09/22/17 06:12 Re: Stolen Wig-Wag Author: wigwag Didnt the same thing happen to the ATSF wigwag in Vernon in 2002? Odds are it was a rogue foamer. We need 24/7 protection at the Anaheim wigwag.
Date: 09/22/17 07:38 Re: Stolen Wig-Wag Author: sagehen How do you steal an active wigwag? The motor and banner are up high and weigh around 200 pounds. This took some effort and planning. The thief would need some kind of lift and a big truck.

This is an active rail line and active crossing. Railroads don't just remove crossing protection without protecting the crossing in some other way, or taking it out of service completely. If the wig-wag is missing, it has been stolen. Change "don't just" to read "aren't permitted to". Date: 09/22/17 12:07 Re: Stolen Wig-Wag Author: trainjunkie EtoinShrdlu Wrote:

If they didn't, how would the FRA collect all those wonderful fines? Never mind the fines, which contrary to railfan urban legend aren't all that frequent nor remunerative to the FRA, try this phrase on for size: "remove crossing protection without permission, have an accident there, slam dunk loss of the subsequent lawsuit". |
