Western Railroad Discussion > Magic MKT MondayDate: 11/20/17 09:48 Magic MKT Monday Author: Fiftyfooter After watching trains for over 35 years, I am always blown away, and then amazed, by the rare older relics that still survive in the world of hi tech modern railroading.
Yesterday while driving thru Tehachapi, I noticed a UP work train at summit by the Loves Truck stop unloading MOW equipment. From a far distance away, I noticed one box car in the string of green company flats, that looked very odd and different in dimension and size compared to any other boxcar I have seen in sometime. As I got closer, I was amazed to see it was a 40 foot MKT MOW supply car still with the herald and all! Even though I got a few photos, I still couldn't find a built date and there were workers around so I didn't want to get in the way. Below is a little info I found at Railarchives! Owner: Missouri-Kansas-Texas Type: Box Car AAR Class: MWM: Store-Supply Car. A car equipped for handling material to be distributed for railroad use. AAR Type: M190 Anyone know more about this Texas gal and how old she might be? She's got me thinking about changin' my name to "fortyfooter" Edited 6 time(s).
