Chicago Rainy Nights
Author: ATSF5669

After finishing photographing a marriage retreat a few weekends ago we had an hour of daylight, such as it was, before dusk and twilight. Perfect time of day to be trackside especially with the heavy thunderstorms that had been in the area all day. Cool light and cool railroading!

These were all made within a few miles of Hinsdale.

The track in No 2 is missing the three most important elements of track maintenance.

Nice shots. That looks like the weekend we got over 8" of rain.

Let's see how well I know my home section of railroad:
#1 Fairview Avenue Downers Grove looking west
#2 Fairview Avenue looking east
#3 Cass Avenue in Westmont looking east. That crest is the high point on the Chicago Sub between Chicago and Aurora.
#4 Hinsdale looking east

Wow
This really shows some of us that you don't need bright unfiltered sun to get tremendous photos.

Those are all gorgeous photos! I really like
#1 and #4. Wow...... No, you don't need a
perfect sunny cloudless day to get great
photos, as your superb photos show. Thank
you very much for going out in the rain and
taking and then posting these great photos!

Yep, that would be drainage, drainage, and, of course, more drainage.

That particular location is boxed in on three sides by the Metra platforms and Fairview Avenue.

A+??? NO WAY I give you an A+ for these shots. It's just plain TOO LOW of a grade!
(As soon as I can figure out a higher grade, though... ;^)
