Winter Railfan Respite - Pacific Northwest
Author: DelMonteX

I'm going to try something a little different. A compilation of sorts from a nice day of railfanning during a fantastic break in the winter gloom that is typically the Pacific Northwest.

We start a Nisqually, with the arrival of Cascades 505 and Charger 1403, passing a SB BNSF Military train coming off the Lakewood sub.

Next the Military train crossing the Nisqually river, followed by brief cameos of the VBT-Albina and a late Cascades 506 (you can see their drone videos on earlier posts). A stoic Bald Eagle also makes a brief appearance.

Then it's off to Steilacoom and Bridge 14 at sunset for Cascades 518.

A night visit to Tacoma Rail features no Tacoma Rail trains, but rather the arrival of a UP Oil train with CP Power leading, a departing BNSF stack train and a departing UP stack train (KTMBR?)

The day wraps up just in time to catch Cascades 507 sprinting through Tacoma along the Foss Waterway, only to find it stopped at Ruston for the arrival of the Coast Starlight.

Throw in the drone videos at Nisqually, and that makes for a pretty fine day of "train spotting".

Yes time lapse.

I could say that the exposure difference was my attempt at making the images follow the beat of the music. But the truth is that I generally shoot in 3 bracket mode, and even with Lightroom's ability to fix exposure difference, there still was some difference between each of the shots in a group. If I had actually planned this, I would have not done the bracketing.
