Galveston Railroad

When I was in Galveston a week ago Monday, I lucked out and found the Galveston Railroad working (sure, probably not that hard to do, but I was coming in blind and had no idea when it ran).

The have a neat pair of SW1001s. There was also what looks like an SW1000 or SW1500 with its prime mover on the ground on their property. Anyone know what the story is with that unit? What is it? Is it being scrapped?

Couple more shots after they tied up. Light would have been "roster quality" had I stuck around another hour, but I couldn't due to other plans.

Nice pictures. I was also there in 2014 and was lucky to catch the #1006 at work.

That SW1500 looks like a goner. No headlight lenses or horns. Not a good sign.

Looks like an ex-Conrail unit that was brought as a parts source.
