I got outta the house this afternoon under blazing sunshine and big fluffy white clouds to go shoot Uncle Pete’s Olympic. By the time I reached my Alta Vista, KS shooting destination 25 miles south the sun was gone and the clouds had turned garbage can grey. But that’s the way it goes here in the Land of OZ! I shot the unit anyhow… What else could I do. So here’s some photo-editing to the rescue. A little burn here, a little enhancement there. I kinda like the results.

Oh yeah: I took this shot off of Wes’ famously rickety overpass. That’s OK my friend, I’ll take care of the shooting in Alta Vista. And I hope you got the chance to get a few shots in Topeka…

Thank you my friend for taking such a fine picture from my bridge. No I did not get to see it this time because of family demands. I did get them both, together, some years ago at the Great Overland Station.

Another one of my favorite spots to shoot slides of SP / SSW trains. You got a fine shot there of UP 2002 .
Nice to see that diesel on T. O. as it has been since 2004 since I shot slides of it in similar weather at Tie Siding, WY.

Oly beer is still brewed today but not in Tumwater WA. Miller now brews it in Irwindale CA. Sold in Northern CA and the northwest.
