Search on it - the last mention stated 'late in the year'.

They probably backed away running when they saw how many problems UP has had with theirs.

And just what might those problems be?

Very imaginative response.. you posted exactly the same sentence, word for word, to a very similar question back in January.

BNSF ran the other way and warned the others. Junk SD70Tcrap4.

It is the exact same response, because I copied and pasted it, like I have on two or three other threads asking about these units that may or may not ever even exist.

Seriously, with the obsession that the railfans and foamers have with these Progress Rail units (because they aren't EMD), Trainorders, Facebook, and many other railfan sites will be flooded for weeks with posts, pictures, sightings, and love stories about these units. People have been asking the same question on here for months and its always the same response every time. The posts about them will be unavoidable if/when these units are finally built. That may take awhile since Progress Rail seems to have a hard time building anything anymore which is sad because those T4 ACes are branded EMD, you know, the company that used to build the best locomotives in the world until they gave up on R&D and let GE eat their lunch.

For better or worse the 70ACe at least ran, I still can't get over the problems they're having
with little more than a prime mover change.

Out

The entire unit is the problem.

It is a lot more than just a prime mover change...

"It is a lot more than just a prime mover change.."

That depends on the exact nature of their problems inasmuch as the Tier IV system is
inherently tied into the prime mover ie the system would work with the PM in a test bay.
The rest of the locomotive has been built before.

Out

The rest of the locomotive has not been built before. Have a look on youtube. There are many new features

Well don't just copy and paste the same response because it's of no use to anyone. And they are EMD, by the way. Try sticking to some facts that can be substantiated because what you are posting is either opinion or simply incorrect.

Per a mechanical dept contact in Ft. Worth, they are looking at canceling said order all together. The two demos were sent back to Progress Rail a few months ago after only a week or so of being back on the property from their last visit to the Progress Rail shops.

As one that gets them as leaders or in consist, I’ve had zero issues with them.

Quiet, nice ride and pulls like any other motor.

Being super quiet, is very nice.

Even the 9xxx series 70’s we have are fairly quiet. They have come a long way.

Thanks for the first hand info.

Thanks for the response. I work in the middle of non-UP cab signal land. So until my railroad or the other railroad with PRR cab signals gets our own I wont get one in the lead.

That said I have seen them running in trail, so apparently UP/EMD trust them enough to allow them off system.
