BNSF Seligma...I mean Phoenix Sub
Author: RayLewis

Most of what I have posted in the past here on TO is from Donner and Tehachapi....its been a while for both of those locations but lately I have been overloading you guys with Seligman sub stuff so I figured I would throw some of the Peavine shots I have taken over the past year or so.

Shot 1 - Truly a hard shot to nail down because am Eastbound trains are hard to come by. The only hope is the outbound HPHXBEL. it all depends on how much work it has and opposing traffic on whether or not you can catch it in daylight. On Nov 2, 2017 I was lucky that the train had two z trains to wait for. It stopped near Chino Valley once and again in Ash Fork giving the sun time to come up. Here the HPHXBEL1-1 struggles uphill at Daze. You can see Ash Fork in the background.

Shot 2 - On Nov 4, 2017 on the other end of Daze a length ZWINPHX-4 winds down the curves.

Shot 3 - Just west of Wickenburg is the famous bridge which can be seen from highway 60. On May 15, 2017 BNSF 5222 leads the VPHXELP out of Castle Hot Springs into Allah near Wickenburg.

Shot 4 - Another view near Wickenburg. This is the QPHXCHI-31 taken on July 31, 2017.
Shot 5 - Taken at the Hell Canyon bridge at Drake on April 21, 2017. VPHXELP-21

Beautiful stuff! #1 puts into perspective the 1.80E% grade. The beginning of the Pevine from William's Jct is some mean stuff!

It's very fun to watch! Would be really nice to get a long intermodal here with even more curves.

Thank you all. It's a very challenging place to shoot based on train norms.

Very nice photo's. Images 1 and 2 are great examples of why Santa Fe built the Crookton Cutoff.

Personally, I like #3 the best with the bright orange of the locomotive(s), the framing in the lower, right third, and the cactus in the upper left.
