After the Special
Author: twjurgens

After getting shots of the special yesterday, we went back to Union where 1621, 1125. and UPY 620 were preparing to depart with the Falls City local.

The original depot sat about where the 2 sheds are now in the wider view.  The hotel (now apartments) in that view is typical of many railroad junction towns.

Is there a fertilizer plant around there? Those look like Potash Corp cars.

There is a PotashCorp - PCS Phospate plant in Weeping Water.  Those cars would have been brought to Union by the Louisville turn.  That train runs Union - Weeping Water - Louisville and return.

Ken Church was with me and said the same thing!  He burned some slide film on it.

Say hello to Ken.  I haven't seen him for years.

Nice catches of the local with snoot as well as the special earlier.
