In these alphabet-soup days of constant power run-throughs & pooled power consists it’s hard to get excited about seeing ‘foreign’ power on any train, anywhere. Even seeing BNSF power on UP trains doesn’t have the shock value that seeing Santa Fe power on UP trains would have 30-40 years ago. I certainly don’t mean to impugn on the railfanning available to today’s younger fans, but spotting foreign power just isn’t as interesting as it once was.

But I still have fun shooting. After all, it’s still flanged wheels on steel rails…

1. KCS 4655 leads a UP manifest over Spring Creek at Bavaria, KS. Consist: KCS 4655, NS 2758 & UP 4610 with DP unit KCS 4724 (not pictured here).
