Something different on the CP for a change.
Author: CNW8531

This is the first time I've ever seen a CP SD90/43 on this line.  It's nice to get a little variety for a change.  Units are probably headed for a rebuild program or posible trade-in fodder.  Shot this train southbound near Princeton, Iowa about an hour ago.  I'd like to see these units in fresh clean paint like the leader of this consist!

Thats Train 474 there Randy, and in a few months, those 90's will be back is SD70ACU's. Going to Paducah for rebuild.

8060 I think I just got at Relco about two weeks ago.

photo shows how cp takes care of their power, the good, bad and the ugly, all in that order, good leader, new and shinny, next 2, well used and showing it, than the ugly, the last 2 should become kia fenders, pure waste of money to rebuild those junkers.

Nice catch.  At least the SD90/43 rebuild program will keep a nice looking carbody around.

NS had success rebuilding the exUPs.....the crews like the new cabs and the way they pull now.  It will be interesting to see whether CP has similar success...

Apparently, the NS feels different about the former UP SD9043's that they have rebuilt into SD70ace's.

Unfortunately on the CP visually, even the leader unit will soon look like the second one in the consist....

up and ns are successful because they still do most or some of their own work in house, cp dismantled their ability's to do this work, closed and sold their heavy repair shops, as you can see, they don't wash their power very often.  take a look at the 90's, their paint is faded not dirty, they have sat around a lot parked, unused. just polishing a turd!
