Author: tunnel88 As mentioned above a handful or more in Denver. 3 in the last couple months on the east side of town include 577, 625, 629. Here is a quick phone shot of 625 on Oct 16. 577 is the roughest looking of the group, 625 and 629 are fairly decent.

Currently 120 are in service and 80 are stored. Date: 12/07/18 18:46 Re: UP GP15-1's? Author: bankshotone I see the little switchers everyday leaving Boone Iowa headed west, the usual numbers vary from 701, 703, 713, 726, 737, 744. They sure have a distinctive tone when they are dragging a heavy load being them.

Author: NebraskaZephyr Still some working in the Chicago area, not hard to catch one at all.
There is a dedicated pool of them kept here equipped with either ATS, ATC or both as most trackage in Chicagoland has one or the other system in place. AFAIK, none of the C&NW-original GP15-1s remain, all the remaining ones here are ex-MP units with the integral air intakes (as opposed to the "chese grater" louvers on the C&NW and Frisco units). Personally I have seen them in the last month working as the "depot switcher" at OTC, shuttling bilevel consists between the station and the coach yard/shop at California Ave., on the Troy Grove Sub and just this past Thursday on the wayfreight working the customers on the Harvard Sub (Northwest Line for you Metra commuters). Not seen, but told by others they also work the job between Proviso and the small yard at North Ave. in the city and the remaining industry switching out of North Ave. (e.g., Chicago Tribune, Blommer Chocolate).
