A Busy Super Bowl Sunday On The BNSF Northern Transcon

It was a cold cloudy day in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub with a high-low of 36-33. Possible snow or rain. Traffic was steady today and was able to catch two 8000 units today. That doesn't happen very often. Here are some of the trains from today.

2/3/2019

1. WB 923am oil train with BNSF 6601-4125 on the point with DPU's.
2. DPU's BNSF 4742-7574 on same train.
3. WB 955am oil train with BNSF 8025-4279 on the pull with DPU's.

4. DPU's BNSF 4752-4338 on same oil train.
5. Mr. or Mrs. Hawk looking things over in the backyard. There were two hawks today.
6. WB 1043am grain train with BNSF 5397-H1 1085 on the pull with DPU and a friendly toot-toot from the hogger.

18. EB 1241pm "Z" train with BNSF 6513-5926-9370 on the pull with DPU.

21. WB 104pm intermodal train with BNSF 7169-4313 on the pull with DPU's and a friendly toot-toot from the hogger.

22. DPU's BNSF 4510-6907 on same intermodal train.
23. WB 222pm coal train with BNSF 4879, green and cream 9678 and BNSF 5808 on the point with DPU.
24. Another shot of BNSF Grinstein 9678 on same train.

Wow, CP units look nice when they are clean---never seen one though until now.  #19 piggybacks look really good.  Nice shots Larry.

Great stuff, Larry.  Your bird friend today looks to be a male American Kestrel (Kestrels are the smallest type of falcons we have in North America).

Thanks everyone! Thanks Stan for that bird information. I was told one of my backyard hawks was called a Merlem. It's interesting that I also have a falcon in the backyard. Hope I can better pictures of the birds.
